Beacon Light Remixes Rachel Belman’s “The Broken”

by Beacon on January 20, 2012

After meeting California native and former Detroit Lion, Zack Follet, at a Lecrae show in September of 2010, Beacon was able to connect with up and coming artist, Rachel Belman. Rachel released her single, “The Broken” in October of 2010 with her album entitled, “In Your Light.” The song has done very well.

The Broken Remix has a message that is clear and true: people are broken. We need the love of a Savior and without Him there is no hope. The melody and the emotion of the song clearly portray this truth. “My inspiration for The Broken (the original) came from one of the hardest experiences I’ve ever gone through,” says Rachel, “Right after it happened I went home and sat on the piano, and here came a song, it was The Broken.” Rachel thanks God for the hard experience she went through. It has opened her eyes to the trials and hardships that so many people have to deal with, and it has truly helped her to relate to them so she can love them like Jesus Christ does.

After getting to know Rachel’s Manager and father, Gary Belman, Beacon Light jumped on board for The Broken Remix. Coupled by Jordan Stonehouse’s musical production and creativity, the song turned out great. “Remixing The Broken wasn’t exactly cliche,” said Beacon, “Rachel is a very good songwriter. The Broken is a very poetic piece of music. The lyrics paint a vidid picture, and it is not written in your typical format: ‘Chorus/Verse/Chorus/Verse/Chorus/Bridge/Chorus.’ The originality of the songwriting pushed Jordan and I toward a more creative end result. I’m really excited about the way it turned out.”
